Wheelchair Lifts

In this article we are going to take a look at different types of wheelchair lifts.  A wheelchair lift is a device that will help lift people who are in wheelchairs up into areas that they otherwise would not be able to reach by themselves.

The areas that we are going to focus on our stairs, homes, vans and cars.  Any of these places are generally too hard for people who are wheelchairs to reach on their own –  and therefore a wheelchair lift is absolutely necessary for the convenience of the person in the chair.

Wheelchair Lift For Stairs

The first type of these lifts are known as wheelchair stair lifts.  A wheelchair stair lift is a lift that is attached to the railing or wall in a home where the stairs connect the bottom and top floors, or from the main floor to the basement.

Obviously, somebody who is used to travelling all flights of the floors are going to want to continue to do that if they are suddenly put into wheelchair.

Installing a wheelchair lift inside the house, or even installing two of them if it is a multi-story house, is going to be much more cheaper and much more quicker to install than going out and trying to find a new house that is one floor.

Besides, that could be very demotivating and many people are only in wheelchairs temporarily.  Once you are out of the wheelchair, if that is the case, then you could easily sell your used wheelchair stair lift, or some company might buy it and refurbish it.

Wheelchair Lifts For Vans

Another type of wheelchair lifts are ones for a van.  Typically, people who are traveling with those in wheelchairs have vans or large vehicles, and it’s extremely hard for those people to get inside the van, especially with no help.

Old school wheelchair ramps are not necessarily good for all people.  Therefore, a mechanical wheelchair lift, in any event is a great addition for convenience and comfort to people travelling in it.

Anybody would definitely appreciate a high quality and durable wheelchair lift that coils back into the van so the door can close easily.

Wheelchair Lifts For Cars

The next type of wheelchair lifts that we are quickly going to look at is wheelchair lifts for cars.  Depending on the size of the car, you might have wheelchair lifts installed in order to accommodate somebody in your family, or somebody who is in the car a lot of the time.

A wheelchair car lift is very similar to the van lift talked about in the previous paragraph, and it is also similarly priced.

Wheelchair Lifts For Homes

There can also be custom built wheelchair lifts for homes.  These do not necessarily have to be on a staircase, but could be on a step up or bungalow style set up.

These type of custom installations are more common than you might think, so there is a part of your house that is more elevated than others, yet not still connected to a staircase, you still have a chance to install a custom wheelchair life there.
